In a previous post we discussed two levels of architecture description within ArchiMate: the service level describes the what and the underlying components and processes describe the how. The motivation for making this distinction was also discussed: separating the description of the functionality versus the implementation of that functionality has several advantages with respect to stability and understandability of architecture descriptions. The posting ended with an option question: are two levels sufficient? In this post we will revisit that issue, starting with a second look at the example model from last time:
